After lunch in Arusha, begin your scenic drive to the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area (NCAA), a vast landscape of rolling plains, shimmering lakes, volcanic craters, rugged mountains, and dormant volcanoes.
Travel up the slopes of the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest intact volcanic calderas on Earth. Measuring almost 20 kilometers wide, 610–760 meters deep, and covering approximately 264 square kilometers, the crater is a natural sanctuary brimming with wildlife.
Arrive at the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge in time for sundowner cocktails, enjoyed from one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in Africa. The panoramic vistas over the crater floor offer a perfect introduction to this extraordinary natural wonder.
After breakfast, descend into the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the “8th Wonder of the World.” This vast natural amphitheater is a unique biosphere, virtually unchanged since prehistoric times.
Enclosed within its towering volcanic walls lies an astonishing diversity of ecosystems:
sweeping grasslands,
lush swamps,
patches of indigenous forest,
shimmering saltpans,
and a picturesque freshwater lake,
all attracting an impressive array of wildlife and exceptional birdlife.
Within this remarkable habitat you’ll find all members of the Big Five — lion, elephant, rhino, leopard, and buffalo — as well as abundant plains game, thriving hippo pools, and one of the densest concentrations of predators in Africa.
Enjoy a delightful picnic lunch on the crater floor, surrounded by breathtaking scenery and roaming wildlife.
In the afternoon, ascend the crater walls and return to the lodge, where you’ll have time to relax and unwind before dinner.
After breakfast, depart the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area and continue your journey toward the legendary Serengeti National Park. En route, stop at the world-famous Olduvai Gorge, often described as the “Cradle of Mankind.”
This globally significant prehistoric site, made famous by pioneering paleontologists Louis and Mary Leakey in the 1950s, provides a remarkable window into early human life dating back nearly two million years. Explore the small museum and view the dramatic landscapes where groundbreaking fossil discoveries were made.
After your visit, continue across the vast plains of the Serengeti, arriving at Serengeti Serena Lodge in the afternoon. Enjoy time to relax and take in the sweeping wilderness before sitting down to a classic safari-style dinner in one of the world’s most iconic wildlife regions.
After breakfast, set out for a full day of game driving through the vast Serengeti National Park, an extraordinary wilderness spanning 14,763 square kilometers of rolling golden savannah.
The Serengeti is the stage for “the greatest wildlife show on Earth” — the annual migration of more than one million wildebeest, accompanied by zebras and gazelles as they move in search of fresh grazing. Even outside the migration season, the park offers some of the best year-round wildlife viewing in Africa.
During your safari, enjoy meals served in true safari style — out in the bush, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and roaming wildlife.
The Serengeti is world-renowned for its:
powerful lion prides,
swift cheetahs,
graceful giraffes,
large zebra herds,
abundant plains game,
and diverse birdlife.
Every turn reveals another iconic African sight.
Return to your lodge in the late afternoon for a relaxing evening.
Overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge.
After breakfast, depart the Serengeti and drive to beautiful Lake Manyara, a shimmering alkaline lake nestled in a dramatic cleft of the Great Rift Valley. The journey reveals stunning panoramas as you descend toward the lush groundwater forests that define this unique ecosystem.
Arrive in time for lunch at the Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge, perched along the edge of the escarpment and offering breathtaking views over the lake and surrounding plains.
In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Though small in size, this park is extraordinarily diverse — a compact jewel of East African wildlife. Highlights include:
the world-famous tree-climbing lions,
vast flocks of pink flamingos,
thriving hippo pools,
impressive elephant herds,
and nearly 500 recorded bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers.
After your game drive, return to the lodge.
Dinner will be served in the elegant central dining room, followed by a peaceful overnight stay.
Overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge.
