Itineraries Of The Day

Arrival at Marseille airport. Meet and greet followed by transfer by coach to Avignon also named the city of the Popes, stretching in
all its beauty along the Rhône river
Check-in at the hotel.
Welcome dinner at the hotel.
Overnight in Avignon.

 

Enjoy a morning guided walking tour of the city. Visit the Pope’s Palace, home to the Sovereign Pontiffs in the 14th century and the largest Gothic palace in Europe. Discover the 25 rooms of the Palace, including the ceremonial rooms, chapels, cloister, private papal apartments with priceless frescoes, and others.
Walk to The legendary St Bénezet bridge a significant symbol of the history of Avignon, is famous throughout the world due to the beloved children’s song.
Afternoon guided excursion by coach to Chateauneuf du Pape: Medieval village and summer residence of the Avignon popes, Châteauneuf-du-Pape recognized as a Remarkable Taste Site, is the ideal stopover for all wine lovers eager to discover one of the most prestigious crus in the Rhône Valley. Visit a wine estate and enjoy a commented tasting session of wines and cheese.
Transfer back to Avignon

Drive today to Arles, a former major Roman city dating back to the 7th century BC that contains many important monuments which you will discover on your walk. The amphitheater is the most important Roman monument of the ancient Roman colony that can be admired today, some two millennia after its construction.
It is today the city’s most visited monument, carrying the image of Arles around the world, closely associated with the name of Vincent Van Gogh, who arrived there in 1888. Get a chance to view the sites of many of his most famous paintings.

Head to Saint-Remy de Provence for a full day guided excursion.
Situated in the heart of the Alpilles, Saint Rémy de Provence is one of the “must-sees” in Provence. Surrounded by lush green perfumed valleys, its ancient streets are lined with beautifully restored old houses… you will soon be seduced by Saint Rémy’s charm! While strolling through the narrow winding streets you will discover fantastic old fountains, shady squares, picturesque restaurants and elegant boutiques.
The beauty of the countryside and the quality of light has inspired many artists, writers and painters such as Van Gogh
Experience olive oil tasting at a local factory (or mill)!
Making olive oil is very similar to making wine. The two approaches have much in common, from harvesting perfectly ripe fruit through to extracting the juice and blending the varieties. Enjoy a visit of the mill too.
Transfer back to Arles
Overnight in Arles.

Drive east to Gordes, one of the most beautiful villages in France. Allow yourself a stroll in its narrow cobbled streets which thread their way through tall houses; Discover this village built against the rock, clinging onto its flanks and whispering the tales of a thousand legends;
Continue to Aix en Provence : Called “the city of a thousand fountains” , Aix  has always been a brilliant cultural centre.Admirers of Paul Cezanne know it well, it is here that we feel the presence of the painter with the greatest intensity. He created his shelter there, a place of work and contemplation, from where on sunny days, he painted in “le motif”. Visit a Calisson factory, where tradition and modernity come together enabling to discover the secrets of of Provencal specialties!

Overnight in Aix en Provence

Morning departure to Cassis : Enjoy a 45mn commented cruise to discover the famous Calanques de Cassis (weather permitting).
Continue to Marseille , the city full of art and culture and has many wonders to share.
Discover the Old Port which has been the prestigious theater where Marseilles’ history has been taking place.
The landmarks here are blurred in the scenery of the city:
The Greek-Phocean settlers’ Acropolis, the first Christian Abbey, the Arsenal (former ships building yard), the town hall, the Imperial Residence, and the fortification.
Stop and visit the church of Notre-Dame de la Garde Fortress and sanctuary, an essential landmark of the city. It’s the highest point in Marseille !
