This city was visited by St. Paul, he written his epistle to the Philippians and founded a church. Explore the ruins of the site such as the forum, market, the basilica and theatre. Upon your return to stop at Kavala, the ancient city of Neapolis for lunch and some free time. Drive back to the city of Thessaloniki. After breakfast, check out and depart with your English-speaking guide and driver for the village of Kalambaka and the spectacular Monasteries of Meteora. Perched upon granite rocks the monasteries are filled with treasures and artifacts from the Byzantine era. You will visit two of the Monasteries and after head for lunch to a local taverna. Drive to your hotel for check-in. Dinner at hotel and overnight.
Check out after breakfast and start your drive back to Athens with a stop at the archaeological site of Delphi. Visit with your English-Speaking guide the archaeological site. Delphi, known as the center, ‘naval’ of the earth, was a famous oracle in the ancient times. You will see the Castalia Springs, the temple of Apollo and the Treasury of the Athenians among other monuments. After lunch at a local restaurant continue your drive to Athens. Enjoy your breakfast and at set time meet with your English-Speaking Guide and depart for your full day tour Athens, including the Acropolis. Start with a visit to the city centre to see Constitution Square, the House of Parliament and the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier. Pass by the architectural features of the neoclassical trilogy: the University, the National Library and the Academy. Continue your drive to the Acropolis, passing by Hadrian’s Arch. Stop to admire the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Panathenaic Stadium, where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896. Next, spend time exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Acropolis. Explore the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and its most famous ancient monument, the iconic Parthenon. Continue to Mars Hill or Areopagus where Apostle Paul was brought in front of the council of the Athenians and delivered his famous speech towards the Men of Athens regarding the “Unknown God”. Arrive in Crete and its capital Heraklion, at 07:00. Join an shore excursion to see the Minoan Palace of Knossos. Your cruise will depart at 12:00 towards your last port of call the breath-taking volcanic Island of Santorini (16:30). Upon arrival marvel the whitewashed villages of Fira, Imerovigli and Oia, perched on the rim of the caldera’s cliffs. Enjoy your time in the main village of the city, Fira or take an optional excursion to the traditional settlement of Oia.
