Tour Plan

Madagascar promises an unforgettable journey through one of Earth’s most extraordinary destinations.

Itineraries Of The Day

Upon arrival at Ivato International Airport in Antananarivo, you’ll be warmly greeted by our local representative, who will assist you with customs, luggage, and your private transfer to the hotel. As you make your way into the city, catch your first glimpses of Madagascar’s bustling capital — a lively mosaic of hillsides dotted with terracotta rooftops, winding streets, and colorful markets alive with energy.

The remainder of the day is at leisure to rest and unwind after your flight. Settle into your hotel and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Antananarivo, perhaps enjoying a cool drink on the terrace as the city lights begin to glow over the valley.

For your overnight stay, choose between:

Hôtel Palissandre – an elegant property offering panoramic views of the city and a refined touch of Malagasy hospitality.
Maison Galliéni – a beautifully restored colonial mansion, renowned for its intimate charm and personalized service.
Both provide the perfect haven to relax before your upcoming adventure across the island.

Overnight in Antananarivo at Hôtel Palissandre or Maison Galliéni.

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Ivato International Airport for your domestic flight to Fort-Dauphin (Tolagnaro), gateway to the wild south of Madagascar. Upon arrival at Fort-Dauphin Airport, you’ll be met by your guide for a scenic overland journey to Berenty, one of the country’s most famous private reserves.

As you drive through the semi-arid landscapes of southern Madagascar, enjoy several photo stops and short walks to explore the fascinating spiny forest ecosystem, home to towering octopus trees, cactus-like euphorbias, and vibrant birdlife found nowhere else on Earth.

As evening falls, embark on a guided night walk in the Berenty Spiny Forest Reserve — a magical opportunity to spot nocturnal lemurs, owls, and other creatures that awaken after sunset. The sounds of the forest and the glow of the stars create an atmosphere of mystery and wonder.

After an unforgettable day of exploration, enjoy dinner at Berenty Lodge, where you can unwind and reflect on your first encounters with the unique biodiversity of Madagascar’s south.

After breakfast, set out to explore the Berenty Reserve, a world-renowned private sanctuary located along the Mandrake River, surrounded by sprawling sisal plantations and diverse forest habitats. The reserve encompasses the Rapily spiny forest, the 200-hectare Berenty Reserve, and the 100-hectare Bealoka forest — each offering a unique glimpse into southern Madagascar’s ecosystems.

Berenty is most famous for its remarkable population of lemurs, with six different species thriving here, including the beloved ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta), the agile brown lemur, and the graceful Verreaux’s sifaka, often seen leaping effortlessly between branches in their signature “dance.”

The reserve is also a paradise for birdwatchers, boasting over 100 recorded species, from the Madagascar scops owl to the striking crested coua and a variety of water and forest birds that bring life to this biodiverse haven.

Spend the day walking the well-maintained forest trails, accompanied by expert local guides who will share insights into the region’s wildlife, flora, and conservation efforts.

As evening falls, return to Berenty Lodge, where a delicious dinner awaits. Relax under the southern stars and enjoy the peaceful ambiance of this extraordinary corner of Madagascar.
