Arrive at Entebbe International Airport on a morning international flight, where you will be welcomed by a representative and assisted with your domestic connection. Transfer to the domestic terminal for your afternoon flight to Kasese Airstrip. Upon arrival in Kasese, meet your driver-guide and begin the drive to Kibale Forest National Park, traveling through scenic countryside, tea plantations and crater lake regions. Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon or early evening and check in. Enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure while taking in the forest sounds, or enjoy a sundowner at the lodge.
After an early breakfast, head to Kibale Forest National Park headquarters for a briefing before the trek. Embark on an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience in one of Africa’s best primate destinations. Trek through lush tropical forest with expert rangers in search of a habituated chimpanzee family. Spend one unforgettable hour observing chimps in their natural habitat as they feed, play, groom, and call to each other. Keep an eye out for other primates such as red colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and forest birds. Return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Bigodi Community and Wetland Sanctuary: Enjoy a guided walk through the wetland, known for its rich bird-life and vibrant biodiversity. Interact with the local community and visit projects run by the community such as schools, basket weavers, traditional healers.
Transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Kihihi Airstrip. Upon arrival at Kihihi, meet your guide and drive to Buhoma, the northern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Enjoy scenic views of rolling hills, banana plantations and terraced farms along the way. Check in to your lodge and enjoy a short rest and lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community, the indigenous forest dwellers who once lived inside Bwindi. Take part in a guided cultural experience, learning about the Batwa’s traditional hunting and gathering lifestyle. Watch or participate in music, dance, and storytelling, and hear firsthand how they have adapted to life outside the forest. This experience supports local livelihoods and promotes cultural preservation and community development. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Transfer to the Bwindi park headquarters for a detailed briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers on gorilla tracking etiquette and safety. Begin your once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking adventure through the dense, misty rainforest of Bwindi. The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family you are assigned. Navigate steep slopes and thick foliage with the help of experienced guides and optional porters. Once the gorilla group is located, spend one unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants. Watch as they feed, interact, and go about their daily routines—often just a few meters away. After the trek, return to the lodge for a relaxed afternoon where you can enjoy a massage or just chill while taking in the views of Bwindi Forest.
Departure day. Transfer to the Airstrip for a morning scheduled domestic flight back to Entebbe. Connect to your departure flight back home.
