3.   Nelligala Temple
The Nelligala Sacred Area was created in 2014 by conserving a forest. It took six years of dedication to build this sacred place in the middle of the blue mountain range. The statues and designs here are golden in colour and the bodhi tree in a large golden bowl is special. The seventy-foot high bubble pagoda stands out among other gold creations against a blue background. Another surprise is that the stupa was completed in three months.

Departure to Negombo via Kitulgala.
Kitulgala is a small town along the Kelani River and is surrounded by lowland rainforest. It was the site of the 1957 Hollywood classic ‘The Bridge on the River Kwai’ of which only the concrete foundations of the bridge remain. Together with Sinharaja, this area is home to one of the last remaining tracts of lowland rainforest in Sri Lanka and provides a haven for great biodiversity. It is particularly popular for bird watching, especially for endemic species such as Serendib’s scops owl, chestnut-rumped owl and green-billed coucal. Today, Kitulgala is known as the rafting capital of Sri Lanka, where the rapids along the fast-flowing Kelani River offer ideal conditions for this high-octane adventure sport.
You have the possibility to enjoy white water rafting – Supplement USD 30.00 per person.
