As you land in Leh (11,500 ft), you are welcomed by the crisp mountain air and breathtaking landscapes. Given the high altitude, it’s essential to rest and allow your body to acclimatize. Spend the day relaxing at your hotel, staying hydrated, and taking short walks.

Overnight at Leh

Drive towards Lamayuru Monastery, the oldest in Ladakh, and marvel at the surreal Moonland Landscapes with their unique rock formations. Visit the historic Alchi Monastery, known for its ancient murals, and enjoy a traditional Ladakhi lunch in Alchi Village. On the way back, stop at the intriguing Magnetic Hill and witness the breathtaking confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers before returning to Leh.

Overnight at Leh

Wake up to a refreshing mountain morning, followed by a hearty breakfast at the hotel. Spend the day exploring the cultural and historical highlights of Leh, beginning with a visit to the Leh Palace, a 17th-century royal residence that offers stunning panoramic views of the town and surrounding mountains. Continue to the Jamia Masjid, an architectural marvel and the largest mosque in Ladakh, reflecting a unique blend of Tibetan and Mughal influences. Next, visit the serene Shanti Stupa, a white-domed Buddhist monument that provides breathtaking sunset views over Leh. Conclude the day by strolling through the bustling Leh Market, where you can shop for traditional Ladakhi handicrafts, Pashmina shawls, and souvenirs while experiencing the local flavors and vibrant culture.

Overnight at Leh

Today marks the beginning of your journey into the stunning Nubra Valley, often referred to as Ladakh’s “Valley of Flowers.” After an early breakfast, embark on an exhilarating drive through Khardung La Pass (17,982 feet), one of the highest motorable roads in the world. The journey is filled with breathtaking vistas of snow-capped peaks and winding mountain roads. Descending into Nubra Valley, your first stop is the Diskit Monastery, home to a magnificent 106-foot statue of Maitreya Buddha, which overlooks the valley. After a day filled with adventure and beauty, settle into your cozy stay in Nubra Valley for the night.

Overnight at Nubra Valley

Start your morning with a visit to Yarab Tso, a serene high-altitude lake near Sumur village, considered sacred by locals. Nestled amidst rugged mountains, this hidden gem is a perfect place for peace and reflection. In the afternoon, head towards Hunder Sand Dunes, where you can experience a unique double-humped Bactrian camel safari, a rare species found only in this region. Adventure seekers can also indulge in ATV rides across the cold desert, while cultural enthusiasts can enjoy traditional Ladakhi performances in the evening. Spend the rest of the day soaking in the beauty of Nubra before returning to your accommodation for a restful night.

Overnight at Nubra Valley

Leave Nubra early in the morning and drive along the Shyok River, a scenic route leading to the mesmerizing Pangong Lake (14,270 ft). Upon arrival, be captivated by the lake’s changing shades of blue, stretching across the Indo-China border. Take a walk along the shore, visit the famous “3 Idiots” shooting point, and embrace the tranquil beauty of Ladakh’s most iconic lake. Enjoy an unforgettable night in lakefront camps, where you can stargaze under the clear Ladakhi sky.

Overnight at Pangong

Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over Pangong Lake, with the golden light reflecting off the pristine waters. After breakfast, begin your return journey to Thiksey via Chang La Pass (17,590 ft). En route, you may choose to visit Hemis Monastery. Upon arrival, freshen up and enjoy an overnight stay in Thiksey.

After a week of exploring Ladakh’s awe-inspiring landscapes, it’s time to bid farewell.
