Upon arrival in Kenya at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by a Liberty Africa Safaris Airport Representative just outside the baggage hall, after completing Immigration and Customs formalities. Your representative will be holding a paging board with your name for easy identification.
You will then be introduced to your driver-guide, who will accompany you throughout your safari. He will be carrying your printed itinerary, lodge and restaurant vouchers, as well as any domestic flight tickets included in your safari. Transfer to your Nairobi hotel and check in.
You will be staying at Hemingways Eden, a charming boutique residence and private gallery nestled within the leafy suburbs of Karen, on the outskirts of Nairobi. The property borders the Giraffe Sanctuary forest, offering a tranquil and intimate setting surrounded by lush greenery.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before checking out and transferring to Wilson Airport for your scenic flight to Samburu National Reserve. Soar above sweeping savannahs, meandering rivers and rugged hills before descending into a landscape of raw beauty, abundant wildlife and vibrant Samburu culture. This remote northern reserve is renowned for its remarkable biodiversity and is home to the iconic “Samburu Special Five” — the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk and Somali ostrich.

After breakfast, set out on a morning game drive in the legendary Samburu National Reserve, one of Kenya’s finest places to spot the elusive leopard lying lazily on an acacia tree. Follow the winding Ewaso Nyiro River, where elephants, impalas, and crocodiles thrive beneath the striking ochre hills. The reserve’s remote nature ensures fewer crowds, offering a more intimate and unhurried safari experience. Bird enthusiasts will also be thrilled with over 450 bird species that call this reserve home, from vivid sunbirds to powerful martial eagles.
Return to camp for a leisurely lunch and relaxation, before heading out again for an afternoon game drive for another chance to encounter the Samburu Five and occasional African wild dog, which add to the reserve’s unique allure.

After breakfast, transfer to the local airstrip for your scheduled flight to the legendary Masai Mara. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your accommodation. You’ll be staying at Governor’s Il Moran Camp, set within the pristine Mara Naboisho Conservancy, offering a secluded and intimate safari experience with spacious en-suite tents, open-air lounge and thrilling wildlife encounters.
After lunch and time to relax, depart on your first game drive in the afternoon, where you will have the opportunity to see your first sightings of lions, giraffes, elephants, zebras and impalas. The Masai Mara National Reserve is probably the most visited in Kenya. It offers breathtaking views and an extraordinary density of animals, including the “big five” and a wide variety of plains game. Your game drive will continue until sunset.
Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
