Jambo, and welcome to Nairobi—Kenya’s vibrant and ever-evolving capital, packed with adventure, culture, and unforgettable wildlife encounters. Upon arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, proceed through customs and immigration formalities. After clearing, you’ll be warmly welcomed by a Liberty Africa Safaris rep. and transferred to your hotel, where you can rest and unwind as you receive your safari briefing in preparation for tomorrow.
Your Nairobi stay will be at the Tamarind Tree Hotel, a modern property strategically located to offer unparalleled convenience to major tourist attractions, airports, and the renowned Carnivore Restaurant. Its welcoming atmosphere and prime location make it an excellent base for every journey.
After breakfast, enjoy a picturesque drive to your hotel at the foothills of Mount Kenya. Sweetwaters Serena Camp is an acclaimed luxury tented camp set within Ol Pejeta Conservancy, offering beautiful views across the conservancy and a popular waterhole frequented by wildlife. Check into your luxury tent and enjoy some leisure time before a delicious buffet lunch at the camp’s restaurant.
Spend the afternoon on an exhilarating game drive exploring Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a remarkable wildlife haven nestled between the Aberdares foothills and Mount Kenya’s peaks. Celebrated as one of East Africa’s greatest conservation success stories, it is home to the world’s last two northern white rhinos and East Africa’s only chimpanzee sanctuary. It is the best place to see the delightful and cheeky chimps in their natural habitat. With its low visitor density, the conservancy offers an intimate, uncrowded game-viewing experience.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Today, after enjoying your relaxed breakfast, we’ll head further north to Samburu by road, approx. 3 hours. Your journey will take you into the rugged beauty of Samburu—a remote, arid landscape that offers some of Kenya’s most vibrant game viewing. Along the way, glimpse acacia-dotted plains, winding hills, nomadic villages, and camel caravans crossing sunlit valleys.
Arrive in time for lunch at the enchanting Samburu Simba Lodge, which offers more than just a place to stay. The hotel is located in the scenic Buffalo Springs Reserve and serves as a gateway into Kenya’s untamed north.
Savour a buffet lunch at the lodge and some time at rest, before embarking on an afternoon game drive seeking out the “Samburu Five,”— unique species found mainly in Northern Kenya. Return to the lodge in the evening where you may choose to relax by the poolside with a refreshing drink as you capture an unforgettable sight of the sun painting the Samburu sky in golden hues.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Spend today exploring the spectacular Samburu National Reserve, with full day game drives. Traverse through diverse landscapes of riverine forests, open grasslands, and acacia-dotted plains along the life-giving Ewaso Nyiro River. Renowned for its exceptional wildlife, it offers opportunities to spot elephants, crocodiles, impalas, the elusive leopard, among other species. Visit neighbouring Buffalo Springs National Reserve for additional wildlife viewing around natural springs and secluded waterholes.
Early morning and late afternoon game drives provide the best chances to witness wildlife at its most active, while the hours in between offer time to relax at the lodge, enjoy the swimming pool, or participate in optional activities. As the day draws to a close, return to the lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner, and the opportunity to admire the star-filled Samburu skies.
Delight in your last moments before bidding farewell to the rugged beauty of Samburu National Reserve. Check out from your hotel and set out from this semi‑arid sanctuary experiencing Kenya’s dramatic transformation as its terrain evolves to the vibrant rhythms of the capital city.
Upon arrival in the city, proceed to the airport, where you’ll connect with your outbound flight back home, carrying with you unforgettable memories of Kenya’s breathtaking landscapes.
