Welcome to Auckland, or Tamaki Makaurau, the name of this New Zealand metropolis in Māori, the indigenous population of this land.  It translates to “land of a thousand lovers,” and after spending some time in this town of 1.7 million people, it’s pretty easy to become a lover of New Zealand’s largest and most cosmopolitan city.
